NOT A SINGLE DROP OF RIVER WATERS TO BE ALLOWED TO FLOW TO ANY OTHER STATE
Chandigarh : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today decided that any agency trying to usurp the share of river waters of state by ignoring the universally accepted Riparian Principle will not be allowed to enter Punjab.
In a unanimous resolution passed during an emergency meeting of the party presided over by the Akali Dal Patron and Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal here today, it was decided that the SAD will not allow even a drop of river waters of Punjab to go to any other state.
Disclosing this here today, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Harcharan Bains said that there was heavy outrage amongst the people due to the grave injustices done by the successive Congress governments at the centre with the state. He said that the party has reiterated that Punjab neither has any spare water for any other state nor anybody has the right to snatch it.
Squarely holding Congress party and the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi responsible for this grave injustice with the state, Akali Dal held Indira Gandhi accountable for depriving the state of its legitimate share in river waters.
The party said that the decision to snatch the river waters of state was taken by Indira Gandhi and the present state Congress Chief Captain Amarinder Singh had invited her to lay the foundation of SYL Canal at Kapoori to rob the river waters of the state. Even Captain had followed Indira and performed the earth breaking ceremony himself.
In another resolution the core committee mourned the sad and untimely demise of Mr. Charanjeet Singh Maluka, the son of Cabinet Minister Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka. Sharing their heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family the Core Committee prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to departed soul and give courage to the family members and relatives to bear this irreparable loss.
