125 SPORTSPERSONS TO BE RECRUITED INTO POLICE FORCE DIRECTLY
CHIEF MINISTER PARKASH SINGH BADAL WAS CHIEF GUEST OF SEMI FINAL MATCHES AT BADAL VILLAGE
CHANDIGARH : Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today said that for developing a congenial atmosphere of sports in Punjab and in preparation of 2020 Tokyo Olympics, every village of the state would be developed as a nursery of sports. He announced that ultra modern stadiums as well as gymnasiums would be developed in all villages of the state. The Chief Minister said this while addressing the gathering on the second day of semi finals of Dr BR Ambedkar 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016 at the sports stadium of Badal village today. Mr Parkash Singh Badal was the chief guest for today’s matches.
Mr Badal said that the sportspersons were given jobs by the Punjab government and now 125 sportspersons bringing laurels for the state in national and international events would be recruited directly in the Punjab Police. He said that these include 10 DSP, 50 Sub Inspectors and 65 Constables. He said that the Punjab government is also honouring the sportspersons with cash prizes.
While speaking about the success of World Cup Kabaddi, Mr Parkash Singh Badal said that it has been with the efforts of the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party led Punjab government that Kabaddi has become an international sport and is now being played in 34 different countries across the globe. He said that in men section, the winner would be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 2 crore, first runner up would get Rs 1 crore and second runner up Rs 51 lakh. Similarly, the winner of Women section would get Rs 1 crore, first runner up Rs 50 lakh and second runner up Rs 25 lakh.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Mr Sikandar Singh Maluka, Punjab Kabaddi Association Senior Vice President Mr Tejinder Singh Middukhera, SGPC member Mr Dyal Singh Kolianwali, Deputy Commissioner Mr Sumit Jarangal, ADC Mr Lakhmir Singh, SSP Mr Gurpreet Singh Gill, Sports Department Director Mr Rahul Gupta, Assistant Director Mr Kartar Singh Sehambay, DSO Mr Sunil Kumar, besides several others.
