CHANDIGARH : Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that the State Government is considering to give employment opportunity to outstanding sportspersons in the State not only in Police Department, but also in other Departments.
The Chief Minister, who was replying to the questions of mediapersons at Meet the Press programme at Chandigarh Press Club here today, said that a committee has already been constituted to streamline the process of giving jobs to outstanding sports persons and first meeting of the committee has already been held. Its not possible to appoint every such sportsperson as Deputy Superintendent of Police. However, priority would be given to seek their services for promotion of sports, he added.
In reply to a question concerning the issue of a separate High Court of the State, the Chief Minister said that the State has three different demands. First the State should have a separate High Court within the existing building, which can be divided between Punjab and Haryana in the ratio of 60:40 as in case of Vidhan Sabha building. Second, the High Court should have 50:50 of judges. Third demand is that the State should have a separate bench of the High Court at a place suggested by Haryana Government and convenient to the people. There was another issue of cases concerning Chandigarh.
Mr Manohar Lal said that this issue of separate High Court has already been discussed with the Chief Justice and whatever would be decided by the committee would be acceptable to the State Government.
When asked to comment on the issue of separate Capital of Haryana, he said that at present Chandigarh is the Capital of both Haryana and Punjab, and Haryana has its right over Chandigarh. However, he added that it can’t be said what both Punjab and Haryana would decide in future.
While replying to another question concerning the Public Distribution System (PDS), he said that it was on November 1 last that the biometric system was introduced for the PDS to make it more transparent, but it did not function smoothly because of some technical reasons. Now it would again be made functional within one or two months after removing the snags. He added that the system of biometric attendance would also be introduced in Anganwadi Kendras as it would help in maintaining supply of proper quantity of ration and would check corruption.
When asked that who would be deputed for campaigning in elections in Punjab, the Chief Minister said that the BJP would contest on only 23 seats . Therefore, Central leaders go for campaigning, but in case the party high command deputes any leader from Haryana, he would go.
When asked to comment on long queues in banks to deposit fee with application forms of Haryana Staff Selection Commission, the Chief Minister said that there are always more applications than the number of jobs. He said that the State Government was considering a proposal that Employment exchange should have a system to transfer the fee of those already registered with it for employment. This would make things easy.
